Finally someone in the LDS community has written a book on infertility! Ben and I have spoken for YEARS about how I'd love to write a book on this subject. Of course I have never made the time, but my friend Susan's good friend Kerstin has written a book on this very subject from the LDS perspective of an infertile woman!

Last night Susan hosted an event at her house for infertile women or friends or family of infertile women/couples. Her friend came and did basically a seminar on infertility and coping with it on a social, physical, emotional, and spiritual level. She was NOT there to tote her book. She didn't even really mention it. She gave up her time willingly to be a support system to the small group of us there. She was not paid, and she traveled from out of state to come to us!
I have to say it was an amazing night. The "sisterhood" of being around people like you is an incredible bond. I debated whether to even go or not, as I am pregnant, and I didn't want to hurt anyones feelings or offend. I spoke with Kerstin of my concerns and she assured me that it would be fine for me to come. I've had a long history with infertility and loss of natural and adoptive babies. (As most of you know) Kerstin was amazing. The spirit was so strong. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house.
I have not read Kerstin's book YET, but I am definately going to buy and read it. I am so excited that someone has finally addressed this very common issue that is so often judged, and misunderstood by those who frankly cannot understand the pain associated with infertility.
