Please bear with me. There are an insane amount of pictures in this post. I know, I am not one to picture people to death, but I wanted to document Trever's day. This is only the day of his party, the pictures from his 1st birthday are forthcoming.
So I decided I wanted to do Cookie Monster cupcakes for Trever's party. I figured cupcakes were easier to distribute than cake. We had a BBQ and had hotdogs, potato salad, fruit skewers, chips, and more things I am forgetting, but this blog isn't about the other food. It's about "the" monster. ;o)
We started with googly eyes. My thanks goes to my niece Arika Johnson for her fabulous help. She knew which tip I needed to use on my cupcakes, and she assembled all the eyes for me after I prepped the brown googly part.
Next Arika glued the cookies down. I don't know why I don't have a picture of that. She rocked!
Then she let me try my hand at frosting the cupcakes. So fun!!! She told me she'd take turns with me when my hand got tired. It never did. I told her I have buff hairdresser hands... bwa ha ha...
This is Arika holding a finished product. Oh how I love the googly eyes. They make me happy.
I guess you could say I'm "team Cookie".
Cookie Monster army.
T was asleep when his party started, but when he woke up he was all smiles, and ready for the fun!
Then it was time for lunch... I found some 1st birthday Sesame Street plates... totally not my intention of doing a Sesame Street party, even with the Cookie Monster cupcakes, but they had these plates at the party store and they matched too well.
This is T eating his birthday cupcake. I didn't let him have a Cookie Monster cupcake because they were incredibly blue, and I saw the other kids' mouths and faces. Have you seen how pasty-white my baby is? I didn't want him to look like a Smurf.
Then it was time for presents. I don't remember the other kids being so excited about everything, but maybe they were. I just know Trever was thrilled about EVERY single thing he got!
Silly boy!
Maddy made sure to help Trever out... she's got a baby brother on the way.
