Birthday Cake Fun!

Well, since I can't seem to get my computer to download the pictures off my camera, I will post some old pictures that I just found in my files that were already here...

Brenden decided this year he wanted a "Swimming Pool" cake to go with his swim party for his birthday. I agreed, and was determined to figure out some way to make a pool-like cake. After my failed attempts to find blue Jello, I decided I would have to think outside of the box.
To start, I decided to "tile" the top cake to make it the pool...
Next I added blue sugar for the water.

After forming one fondant person, I placed the cake in the freezer to "chill" for a moment. I didn't want all my hard work of tiling to fall off! That part took me over an hour!!! (You know, you can't have two tiles the same color together.... LOL)

I made some more people for the pool while the cake set. I must say that human hair is WAYYY easier to do than fondant hair. LOL

A closer look at my sunbather..

And here is the finished product, in the freezer, awaiting attack from a group of 5th grade boys!
