Last night and this afternoon were the days for Brenden's Eagle Project. His project benefited the James Seastrand Helping Hands of North Las Vegas. This organization is one that helps senior citizens out who live on limited incomes. Some examples of their offerings are boxes with canned or dry goods, other fresh groceries, and paper goods like paper towels and toilet paper.
Brenden's project was to build two large wooden shelving units that could hold the boxes of paperwork that this non-profit organization has to store. He also wanted to collect 500 rolls of toilet paper for the seniors. Toilet paper is one of the items that runs out the fastest.
Last night a group of men (and a few young men) got together to build the shelves. Let me tell you something. It was HUMID out last night. We had thunderstorms and it poured rain last night. These guys were out in the humid heat, away from their families to help my son out. I am grateful for their service.
DAY ONE
Here are Brenden's plans and the First Aid kit. Thankfully nobody needed first aid!
Can't forget the saftey goggles!
Dave Walnum was a whiz with the saw. He had those 2x4's crankin'.
They were moving so fast they were a blur!
There was a wood error and luckily the guys helped find a solution. They just spliced some wood together. Brenden had suggested running to Lowe's for another 2x4. LOL
Brenden's Angels???
Chad doing some cleanup.
They're sturdy!
DAY TWO
The Warehouse
Time to get those heavy shelving units up the narrow staircase and into the loft area!
The boxes that are getting smooshed that need shelving.
All that is left now is for Brenden to take all the rolls of toilet paper to the warehouse! Yay!
Special thanks to everyone who donated their time, money, supplies, spouses, and energy to help Brenden with his project. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for all of your willingness to so selflessly give. I appreciate you so much! Thank you for setting great examples for my son.
